Our Story
How two frustrated developers sat down to build a better way to track projects, capture time, and collaborate.
ClockSquad didn't start in a boardroom or as a venture-backed business plan. It started because we were developers running a small software agency, and we grew to hate the tools we were forced to use.
Every single day, we found ourselves bouncing between fractured platforms: bloated task boards for agile sprints, separate time-logging apps for hours, and manual spreadsheets to stitch it all together. We were context-switching dozens of times a day, paying multiple subscriptions, and micromanaging our seat lists just to avoid end-of-month billing surprises.
Worse, when we wanted basic team roles or simple client invoicing, we were hit with high-tier paywalls demanding we upgrade to overpriced "Enterprise" plans. We realized modern software has become hostile to small and growing teams.
So, we sat down and built ClockSquad: a unified, open workspace where agile project management and precise timekeeping live in the same interface, built on fair, transparent principles.
Our Core Beliefs
1. Features are a Right, Not a Luxury
A 5-person agency deserves the exact same professional project management power and reporting depth as a 500-person corporation. We do not gate user roles, custom invoicing, bulk log editing, or API keys behind high-tier paywalls. Every capability is fully unlocked on every single plan, including the Free Solo tier.
2. Simple, Flat Pricing
Per-user seat math forces you to micromanage your squad list. Adding a freelance developer or a client collaborator shouldn't trigger automatic billing surprises. We charge a single flat rate per workspace based on seat limit brackets. Furthermore, guest collaborator accounts are always 100% free and don't count toward your seat limit.
3. Data Sovereignty
Your project records and financial rates are sensitive. Instead of dumping everyone into a massive shared database separated only by a foreign key, ClockSquad isolates every workspace into its own dedicated database file. You can download your entire physical database file for your workspace at any time, at your convenience, or permanently delete it with a single click.
We built this because we needed a better way to work. We hope it helps your squad, too.
